SONGS OF WATER
Performance for Skájdde Festival
Songs of water is inspired by the Sami concept of underwater world, where spirit beings live. The Sami
believed that Sáiva resembled our world but existed on the other side of a hole in the bottom of the lake
and consisted of an upside-down lake. People made offerings to the water spirits, and in return the spirits helped and protected the people.
Songs of water is honouring the connection to the invisible natural realms through artistic interaction.
Meri`s sings to nature and listens for guidance and inspiration, in close contact to water itself.
Voice, Performance Concept & Costume: Meri Nikula
